Insights from My Journey as a Female Founder
In a recent interview with Authority Magazine, I had the opportunity to reflect on my experiences as a female founder, sharing key lessons I've learned along the way. Building a successful business from the ground up is no easy task, but my journey has taught me so much about perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people.
Here are five key takeaways that have helped me thrive as a woman founder:
1. Adaptability is Key
When I started my career, I didn’t set out to become an entrepreneur—I started as a freelance artist, which eventually led me to create my own business. In the beginning, I didn’t know what I didn’t know, which was both a blessing and a challenge. The ability to adapt to new situations and learn on the go has been crucial to my success. Markets shift, trends change, and as a business owner, you need to be flexible and open to pivoting when necessary.
2. Perseverance is Everything
Every business journey has its highs and lows. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is the value of perseverance. There were moments where I doubted my vision, especially in the early days, but pushing through those hard times helped me develop resilience. If you have a dream, stick with it—success doesn’t come overnight, but with time, effort, and patience, it’s achievable.
3. Build a Strong Team
You can’t do it all alone. Having the right team around you is essential for growth. One of the things that has helped me the most is knowing how to hire and trust the right people. Building a team of people who share your vision and who are willing to work hard alongside you can make all the difference in growing a business. I’ve been fortunate to work with amazing individuals who contribute their unique strengths to our shared goals.
4. Confidence is Essential
There’s often a lot of pressure to prove yourself as a woman in business, but I’ve learned that confidence is one of the most valuable assets you can have. Believe in your abilities and stand firm in your decisions. This doesn’t mean you won’t make mistakes, but it’s important to move forward with conviction, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.
5. Prioritize Balance
As a founder, it’s easy to become consumed by the demands of the business. Over the years, I’ve realized how important it is to make time for myself and my family. Finding balance allows me to show up better both as a leader and as a person. It’s a constant juggling act, but maintaining that balance helps keep me energized and focused.
Reflecting on these lessons has been an empowering reminder of how far I’ve come. I hope these insights inspire others, particularly women who are just starting out in business or considering entrepreneurship. Building a business takes time, effort, and resilience, but with the right mindset and support system, it’s an incredibly rewarding journey.
